Our Zurich Private Tours: What It Means For You

A Zurich private tour with us is a 5.5-hour, fully private experience for up to 7 guests, combining Zurich’s historic city center with the surrounding Zurich Highlands in one relaxed and efficient day. While most visitors stay within the city, our route covers a much broader area of the Greater Zurich Region, allowing you to experience city highlights, scenic countryside, panoramic viewpoints, and places rarely included in traditional Zurich tours.

Unlike typical Zurich city tours that focus primarily on the Old Town and lakefront, our route often extends across 7 of Zurich’s 12 districts. From historic neighborhoods and lakeside viewpoints to exclusive residential areas, countryside scenery, and panoramic overlooks, you’ll gain a broader perspective of Zurich that many visitors never experience.

Instead of spending valuable time navigating transport connections, planning routes, or deciding which attractions are truly worth visiting, you can focus entirely on enjoying the day. Through local knowledge, efficient routing, and private transportation, we help you experience more of the region while reducing travel complexity and avoiding common visitor mistakes.

Your tour is reserved exclusively for your family or group of up to 7 guests. There are no strangers, no fixed schedules, and no rushing from one stop to another. We adjust the pace to your interests, comfort level, and the day’s conditions, creating a more personal and enjoyable experience.

With over 30 years of experience guiding visitors throughout the Zurich region, Sal knows when to adapt plans, where to find the best alternatives when weather conditions change, and how to introduce guests to places that many travelers would otherwise miss. Combined with complimentary photography throughout the day, the result is a Zurich experience that is flexible, comfortable, and designed to help you make the most of your time in Switzerland.

Zurich City & Regional Immersion: Seven Districts, Maximum Access

Our private tour doesn’t just scratch the surface of Zurich; we take you deep into its structure, covering 7 out of the 12 districts, far exceeding the typical tourist loop. We efficiently cover the essential areas, but strategically avoid the major tourist congestion and common landmarks easily found on foot. Instead, your guide reveals a complete mosaic:

District 1: We uncover the hidden gems and quieter streets of the medieval Old Town, balanced with views of the major shopping areas.

Districts 2 & 8: Experience the most stunning, camera-ready views along the entire Lake Promenade.

District 6: See the architectural and intellectual highlights of Zurich’s two top University districts.

District 7: Explore the city’s richest metropolitan and residential areas, extending far beyond the central city limits.

District 10: Travel from the tranquil Limmat River to incredible, exclusive viewpoints high above the city.

District 11: Discover Zurich’s newest, most modern architectural landmarks and iconic locations outside the traditional center.

This comprehensive approach ensures you gain an exclusive, local perspective across the entire Greater Zurich Region, reaching places and panoramas that traditional tours simply miss.

Guests can enjoy generous tastings throughout the museum, and, if available, join a hands-on chocolate-making session in the CHOCOLATERIA led by Lindt Master Chocolatiers. The visit typically takes around one hour and is a must-do for chocolate lovers and families.

Based on your interest, we would be delighted to customize and extend our standard Zurich Tour to include a visit to the Lindt Home of Chocolate. Please note that this add-on is subject to ticket availability, as the factory often books out well in advance.

For a well-paced experience, the museum visit is usually limited to a maximum of two hours. It can also be combined with the Lindt Chocolate Factory visit if timings and ticket availability permit.

If you’d like to explore Switzerland’s rich football heritage, we can extend your Zurich Tour to include a visit to the FIFA World Football Museum. This add-on is offered upon request and depends on ticket availability, as the museum often sells out during peak periods.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What places will we visit during the Zurich private tour?

Unlike most Zurich tours that focus primarily on the Old Town and city centre, our private tour covers a much broader area of the Greater Zurich Region. Depending on the day, traffic, weather conditions, and your interests, you may visit parts of Zurich’s medieval Old Town, the Lake Zurich promenade, the financial district, Bahnhofstrasse, Münsterbrücke, scenic lakeside viewpoints, exclusive residential areas, modern architectural landmarks, the Limmat River, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the city.

Our route typically extends across 7 of Zurich’s 12 districts, allowing you to experience far more of the city than a traditional walking tour. We also travel beyond the usual tourist routes to reveal lesser-known areas, scenic surroundings, and perspectives that many visitors never experience during a short stay in Zurich.

Because every tour is private, the itinerary can be adjusted throughout the day. Optional additions such as the Lindt Home of Chocolate, the FIFA Museum, or other locations of personal interest can also be incorporated when time permits.

How is your private tour different from other small-group tours?

It’s 100% private;  only your group of 1–7 guests, never combined with strangers. You set the pace, and we plan the day around your interests, so you’re not guessing which sights are worth your time or following a fixed script. That’s how guests avoid the rushed, one-size-fits-all feeling of larger tours.

What vehicle is used, and where do we meet?

You travel in a private, licensed Mercedes V-Class with your guide. We collect you at 09:30 from your Zurich hotel or apartment and bring you back — door-to-door, so there are no trains, tickets, or connections to work out. The vehicle also reaches spots standard coaches can’t.

How much is a private Zurich tour?

The standard tour is CHF 550 total for your group of 1–7 guests, not per person, so the cost per traveler drops as your group grows. That covers the private vehicle, your guide, and hotel pickup. Extra hours are CHF 85 each; add-ons are quoted separately.

Is it a walking tour or by car?

The tour is primarily conducted by private vehicle, with only short walks where you choose. Unlike traditional walking tours, you won’t spend hours on your feet moving between attractions. Our private Mercedes V-Class allows you to comfortably cover Zurich’s city highlights and scenic surroundings while minimizing walking and maximizing sightseeing time. Many of our guests choose this tour specifically because it offers a more comfortable experience than group tours, trains, or city walking tours.

How long is the tour, and can I add more?

The standard tour runs 5.5 hours, including a lunch break. Adding the Lindt Home of Chocolate or the FIFA Museum brings it to about 6.5 hours; both together, around 7.5. Each extra hour is CHF 85 for the group.

Do you tip the guide?

While tipping is not mandatory in Switzerland, it is common to tip private tour guides for excellent service. Any gratuity is entirely voluntary and should reflect your satisfaction with the experience. If you enjoyed your day and feel your guide went above and beyond, a tip is always appreciated but never expected.

Is the tour suitable for families and older travelers?

Yes. The private car, relaxed pace, and door-to-door service suit families with children and older travelers who’d rather skip trains and long walks. We set the pace around your group and stop whenever you need to.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We adjust the route to the day’s conditions using local knowledge, reordering stops or swapping outdoor time for sheltered options — so bad weather doesn’t cost you the day. Because the tour is private, we can change plans on the spot without waiting on anyone else.

What’s the cancellation policy?

Cancellations 24 hours or more before your start time are fully refundable, minus a 4% bank processing fee. Inside 24 hours, bookings are non-refundable. No payment is taken when you book – you reserve first, then pay later via a secure link.

Can I customize the itinerary?

Yes. Change the pickup point, add or skip stops, extend the day, or build a multi-day trip. Tell us what matters most to you and we’ll shape the day around it, using more than 30 years of local experience to fit in as much as your time allows. The CHF 550 tour is the standard starting point.
